Without A Past?

Without A Past?

1 John 1:8 “If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. 9 If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. 10 IF WE SAY THAT WE HAVE NOT SINNED, WE MAKE HIM A LIAR, AND HIS WORD IS NOT IN US.”
1 Kings 8:46 “If they sin against thee, (FOR THERE IS NO MAN THAT SINNETH NOT,) and thou be angry with them, and deliver them to the enemy, so that they carry them away captives unto the land of the enemy, far or near; 47 Yet if they shall bethink themselves in the land whither they were carried captives, and repent, and make supplication unto thee in the land of them that carried them captives, saying, We have sinned, and have done perversely, we have committed wickedness;  48 And so return unto thee with all their heart, and with all their soul, in the land of their enemies, which led them away captive, and pray unto thee toward their land, which thou gavest unto their fathers, the city which thou hast chosen, and the house which I have built for thy name: 49 Then hear thou their prayer and their supplication in heaven thy dwelling place, and maintain their cause”
Proverbs 20: 9 “WHO CAN SAY, I HAVE MADE MY HEART CLEAN, I AM PURE FROM MY SIN?
James 3:2 “FOR IN MANY THINGS WE OFFEND ALL. If any man offend not in word, the same is a perfect man, and able also to bridle the whole body.”

Many a time we often regard some men/women of God today as heroes, who are 100% pure from every entanglement of the flesh, due to their present position they are occupying in the LORD. Brethren, this is a great error we must repent from if at all we want to be accepted of God. Everybody irrespective of whom they were before their death have a past. The present crops of pastors doing wonders in the name of the LORD (whether genuine or fake) have a past. So, face the reality and forge ahead with the help of the Holy Spirit. Amen.

The only man since the creation of the world till now without a past is Our LORD and saviour Jesus Christ. HE was God that came in the flesh in order to save us from our sins 1 John 4:2. He is the only one without a past hence, HE was the perfect sacrifice for our redemption. Hallelujah!
The bible speaks of HIM. “For we have not an high priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities; BUT WAS IN ALL POINTS TEMPTED LIKE AS WE ARE, YET WITHOUT SIN.” Hebrews 4:15.

Now, if you are genuinely born again as a Christian, you shouldn’t be afraid to face and confront your past. The prison that most people are being held bound and captive today by the devil is the prison of their past sinful lives. As far as you keep on holding to your past without letting it go i.e without confessing your past sinful life to the LORD and repent truly, you will continue to be a slave unto those sins. No wonder the bible says “KNOW YE NOT, THAT TO WHOM YE YIELD YOURSELVES SERVANTS TO OBEY, HIS SERVANTS YE ARE TO WHOM YE OBEY; WHETHER OF SIN UNTO DEATH, OR OF OBEDIENCE UNTO RIGHTEOUSNESS?” Romans 6:16. This is the reason of your rising and falling in the things of God as a Christian.

My brethren, in order to succeed as a Christian, we must be ready to face our past squarely, and this is where the issue of restitution comes to play. Again, the bible says “HE THAT COVERETH HIS SINS SHALL NOT PROSPER: but whoso confesseth and forsaketh them shall have mercy” Proverbs 28:13. A Christian who overcomes is a Christian that confesses his/her past sins, not minding the consequences.

Most of you are afraid and ashamed of your past. Your thoughts has always been that ‘should I confess that I was responsible for that crime, people will laugh me, people will even arrest me and I’ll end up in prison therefore, I will never confess that sin’. Friend, confess those wicked sins of yours in the past so that you will obtain the mercy of God today and have peace to your soul. Look at the position of the bible regarding suffering as a Christian, and not as a robber. “Yet if any man suffer as a Christian, let him not be ashamed; but let him glorify God on this behalf” 1 Peter 4:16. Have you seen it my friend?

EVERYONE HAS A PAST
I for one was a fornicator. In fact, I equally committed abortion and other wicked things, including masturbation, stealing and lying etc. But God forgave me all of them when I confessed them. Friend, if I, Lugard Osakpamwan Ekhator, obtained the mercy and forgiveness of God, you too shall be forgiven today should you confess and repent from it all in Jesus name. Amen.

SOME FEW PEOPLE WITH AN UGLY PAST IN THE BIBLE
Here is a list of few people in the bible with a very ugly past, but they ended up gloriously. If they succeeded, you too will succeed today in Jesus name. Amen.

1. David. Though a king, he committed adultery – 2 Samuel 11:1-4.
2. Moses. He was once killer – Exodus 2:11-12.
3. Peter. He denied his master – Matthew 26:75. He equally backslided – Galatians 2:14.
4. Paul. He was a persecutor of the Christians – Acts 9:1-2.
5. The thief on the right hand of the cross – Lu 23:40-43.
6. Rahab. A professional prostitute – Hebrews 11:31. She became the grand mother of Jesus Christ - Matthew 1:5.
7. The Samaritan woman at the well – John 4:7-30.
8. Mary Magdalene. A demon possessed – Mark 16:9.
9. Abraham. A Chaldean, who are known for their idol worshipping and magical arts – Genesis 11:31.
10. Ruth. A Moabite but ended up a Jew – Ruth 1:4. And like Rahab the harlot, Ruth also became the grand mother of Jesus Christ - Matthew 1:5.

Please my fellowlabourers in the vineyard of the LORD Jesus Christ, don't end up like Judas Iscariot, who despite knowing that the anger of the LORD does not burn forever Jeremiah 3:12, refused to forgive himself though he repented of betraying his master, but went and hanged himself Matthew 27:3-5. What a terrible way to end. May this not be your portion today in Jesus name. Amen.

As you therefore make up your mind to confront your past today by damning its consequences, may Our LORD and saviour Jesus Christ give you victory, so that you will celebrate in the end in Jesus name. Amen.
Shalom!
