Why Majority Of Today’s Born Again Christians Will End Up In Hell Fire Part 2: Smoking Of Cigarettes And Other Substances Amongst Supposed Christians
Text: 1 John 5:16 “If any man see his brother sin a sin which is not unto death, he shall ask, and he shall give him life for them that sin not unto death. There is a sin unto death: I do not say that he shall pray for it.
17 ALL UNRIGHTEOUSNESS IS SIN: and there is a sin not unto death.
18 We know that whosoever is born of God sinneth not; but he that is begotten of God keepeth himself, and that wicked one toucheth him not.
19 And we know that we are of God, and the whole world lieth in wickedness.
20 And we know that the Son of God is come, and hath given us an understanding, that we may know him that is true, and we are in him that is true, even in his Son Jesus Christ. This is the true God, and eternal life.
21 Little children, keep yourselves from idols. Amen.”
In the text above, the bible used the phrase ‘And we know’ to continuously reaffirm to our understanding what the expectation of God concerning us entails. It painted a situation that we are already knowledgeable about the requirements of life acceptable to God in all things and even though the bible says there is a sin not unto death, yet ‘all unrighteousness is sin’ and there’s no sin whether unto death or not will never be found in the throne of God in heaven. Habakkuk 1:13 “THOU ART OF PURER EYES THAN TO BEHOLD EVIL, AND CANST NOT LOOK ON INIQUITY: wherefore lookest thou upon them that deal treacherously, and holdest thy tongue when the wicked devoureth the man that is more righteous than he?”
We should understand the position of God when it comes to treating sin and the offender. Ezekiel 18:4 “Behold, all souls are mine; as the soul of the father, so also the soul of the son is mine: THE SOUL THAT SINNETH, IT SHALL DIE.” Proverbs 11:21 “THOUGH HAND JOIN IN HAND, THE WICKED SHALL NOT BE UNPUNISHED: but the seed of the righteous shall be delivered.” God bless you.
In the part one of this message which is available here http://emwanta.blogspot.com/2013/12/why-majority-of-todays-born-again.html?m=1 I gave a sole reason why majority of today’s born again Christians will end up in hell fire, and the reason I treated then was “Failure to observe the teachings of Jesus Christ (Failure to obey all the word of God) which automatically translate to ‘failure to obey the word of God’ because, the bible says “For whosoever shall keep the whole law, and yet offend in one point, he is guilty of all” James 2:10.
In this part under consideration today, I will be dwelling on this smoking among supposed Christians, which is based on a dream I had, where a female choir leader and another female member were smoking cigarette during a church service.
Now, most people do not actually know what it means to be called a Christian. Today, the meaning of Christian to some people is by attending and belonging to any worship place called a church, to some others, it means by being given birth to by Christian parents and bearing a supposed Christian name too, and yet to some others, it means by carrying bible around. If we look critically into the various churches in the world today, the above meaning of Christianity is what one can see playing out due to the fact that, most of the supposed Christians in these churches has nothing in connection to the life of Christ which is the root of what Christianity entails (eternal life). Romans 6:23 “For the wages of sin is death; BUT THE GIFT OF GOD IS ETERNAL LIFE THROUGH JESUS CHRIST OUR LORD.” John 3:16 “FOR GOD SO LOVED THE WORLD, THAT HE GAVE HIS ONLY BEGOTTEN SON, THAT WHOSOEVER BELIEVETH IN HIM SHOULD NOT PERISH, BUT HAVE EVERLASTING LIFE.” 1 John 4:9 “In this was manifested the love of God toward us, BECAUSE THAT GOD SENT HIS ONLY BEGOTTEN SON INTO THE WORLD, THAT WE MIGHT LIVE THROUGH HIM.”
Do you know that most people you see smoking cigarettes in the streets belong to one church or the other? These people do not know what it means to be called a Christian in the first place, especially as one big time pastor in Nigeria, Chris Oyakhilome of Christ Embassy church, enthused that ‘smoking is not a sin’ before God. You can now understand better while smokers are now claiming to be Christians today.
Smoking is uncleanness and there’s no justification whatsoever for you to end up smoking. Even the ‘ungodly’ governments and people around the world through their various Federal Ministry of Health, warned that ‘smokers are liable to die young’ and ‘smoking is dangerous to your health’. Can you therefore allude smoking as a righteous practice even when the ungodly people of this world says ‘it is dangerous to your health’?
When the disciples were first called Christians in Antioch Acts 11:26, it was the reflection of Christ’s life that they saw in these people. Today you claimed that you are a Christian but there is no difference between you and the common armed robber out there in the streets.
Friend, if you a smoker of cigarettes and other dangerous substances today, please repent now as this your smoking habit and lifestyle will absolutely send you to hell. Remember smoking is defilement. Revelation 21:27 “And there shall in no wise enter into it any thing that defileth, neither whatsoever worketh abomination, or maketh a lie: but they which are written in the Lamb's book of life.”
I pray that you receive the grace of God upon your life today as you repent in Jesus name. Amen.
